This summer we volunteered with a cat rescue as bottle-feeders/fosters. I've raised two kittens on bottle before. One for another rescue, where she was eventually adopted. And the other was private and we still have that baby.
However, today we brought our two foster kittens to Petco for the rescue's weekly adoption day. Our first foster kitty of the summer, Layla, was adopted. We expected her to be the first to go since she's a gorgeous calico. I feel happy that she was adopted (by a grandma and her 10 year old grandaughter) but I also am a bit sad that our second foster kitty, who was so attached to Layla, was not adopted. We volunteered to keep her at least one more week and take her to Petco again on their next adoption day. I really hope she's adopted too so that she might start settling into her forever home.
Here are pictures of Layla:
Today, I noticed that I have a small line on my forehead. A line! On my forehead! The last year and a half has been hell and it's cost us a lot but...Oh my god, it gave me a worry line. It's small and subtle. Really only a line when I'm worrying but it's still a worry line! Oh cruel fates...
Still, the world has kittens so I guess it all evens out.
In which fictional world/universe/land/city would you most like to live?

This is a rather hard question for me. It'd matter on the circumstance that I'd be there. I would never want to drop out of the sky (even if I fell onto a pile of feather mattresses or into the arms of a conveniently placed hunk) or to just suddenly wake up anywhere but where I'm supposed to be. However, should circumstances be fortuitous and the people I loved in this life were there? Meaning that everything was somehow fixed in some way I couldn't think up right now but would be covered there? Um . . . .well, how about I list some places? I'll even add pictures!
First stop: Middle-earth (Duh!)
The Elven Realms of course. You may be expecting some more obvious choices such as Lothlorian (a little too secretive for my tastes), Mirkwood (two words: GIANT SPIDERS!), or Imladris (Elrond does seem to court tragedy, dontcha think?) but I think the one I may be more tempted towards would be Lindon or Mithlond. The thing that would detract from Mithlond though is that I don't think I'd want to hang around with a whole bunch of Elves that are so sick of the world that they're taking ship to Valinor. So leaning more towards Lindon . . .or Beleriand. Wait, if I get to choose anywhere, does that mean I can choose Valinor?! Ooh, I think I choose Valinor. Yeah, I know living in the undying lands doesn't make you immortal but I don't want to be immortal. I just think it'd be a rather happy and beautiful place.
Now, see, it's kinda hard because most of the places that make great stories that I enjoy . . . well, they aren't exactly neat and clean places. Like Babylon 5 . . .It's a great story but I wouldn't want to be in that world . . . especially if I were on Earth. I mean, DAMN! First the Minbari try to kill them off, then you have President Clark and the civil war (not even counting the SHADOW WAR), and then the plague that would kill everything off in five years?! Damn! Or Xena: Warrior Princess. Fun to watch but I rather like having a toilet with running water, none the less have you seen all the people that get killed on that show? Then there's Star Trek. In some ways, I could see Star Trek as being ok. But I'd have to give up red as my favorite color because Red Shirts always DIE! Of course, I'd have to receive a promise that I'd become involved with a hot Vulcan that is perfectly to order. So . . . .Yeah, I think I'll just stick with what I have. Sounds good to me. Wow, look! I'm there!
