Of course I have a pet! I have many but I'll focus on the one that's really mine. That would be Noire, the kitten I raised since she could curl up in my palm. I found her by accident. I had gone out to swim in the pool. My mom came out to talk to me. We both heard some pitiful mewing from the side of the house. We followed it, chased away a tomcat, and found this tiny and so very, very sick little black kitten. We took her to the hospital. I was sure that she would have to be put down so I refused to give her a name. But she tried to play with the vet that was examining her (very, very infected) eyes. They said that she could possibly survive. So we took her home, bottle-fed her, and she got better rapidly. At first, we thought she'd lose one of her eyes, since the pupil had even broke through while healing. Then we thought she'd be blind. Eventually, it healed so well that she can see almost perfectly and you can't even tell that anything was wrong with the eye. You might be able to tell if you see it in the right light and then you'll see this tiny pinprick of a hazy spot. She has tons of spunk and I love her to death.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So, I'm a little miffed that they didn't award it best foreign film! And best original screen play went to Little Miss Sunshine over it. I'm all for that movie, but I think that Pan's Labyrinth should've won for it's screen play. How in the world could they have not won for Best Foreign Film? The blasphemy! However it did win: Best Make-Up, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography.

Did it deserve Best Make-Up?

 

 

Uh, considering the same actor played those two creatures, duh. That Oscar was so deserved.

 

What about Best Art Direction?

 

 

 

Double Duh.

How about Cinematography?

 

 

 

Come on! So theirs! That Best Foreign Film should've been theirs as well. So should've the Best Original Screen Play but I'm not holding that against Little Miss Sunshine - much. If you want to see a list of who else won at the Oscars, look here.  

Edit: Ok, no matter how much I hate to admit it, maybe Little Miss Sunshine should've won. Not because it's a better film necessarily but because Pan's Labyrinth is not very word-heavy. The strength of its story was the imagery telling the story. That's why it transcends language barrier so magnificently. However, it sure as Hell should've won Best Foreign Film!
